
…Afuwape Elected Leader of the 6th Legislative Arm
Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi officially resumed duties on Monday as the Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), marking the formal commencement of her administration.
The Chairman led a familiarization tour of all offices within the council secretariat to engage with staff and assess the state of operations.
The tour was conducted in the company of the Vice Chairman, Hon. Akintola Falade; the Council Manager, Mrs. Abiola Apatira-Aderinokan; the Council Treasurer, Mr. Abiodun Jimoh Azeez; and other senior staff members.
During the tour, Mrs. Aderinokan pledged the staff’s full support and loyalty to the new administration, expressing optimism for a productive tenure.
Shortly after, the council hosted the official swearing-in of the newly elected councillors at the council hall.
The event was witnessed by several political leaders and stakeholders within the LCDA, including the House of Representatives member for Alimosho Federal Constituency, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba; Elder Abel Badejo; Hon. Rasheed Abiodun Mafe; Engr. Oduntan Olatunbosun; Alhaji Yisa Yusuff; Alhaji Waheed Orire; Pa. Akinfala; Hon. Taofeek Lawal; Hon. Adeyemi Adeleke; Hon. Olasunkanmi Adefioye; as well as council officials and staff.
Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Adunni said, “On July 12th, seven of us — the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and five councillors — were elected by the people. Yesterday, the Vice Chairman and I were sworn in by the Governor, officially confirming our mandate to lead.”
She made the proclamation for the swearing-in of the councillors.
The swearing-in of the councillors into the 6th Legislative Arm was presided over by Barr. Ayoola Balogun, with Hon. Akindele signing their oaths of office in her capacity as Executive Chairman.
Afterwards, the Clerk of the House, Mrs. Adenubi Basirat Adeyemi, conducted the election of principal officers of the legislative arm at the hallowed chamber of the council secretariat.
Hon. Tosin Babatunde Afuwape SNR., representing Okunola Ward C, emerged as Leader of the House. Hon. Hassan Kehinde Yakub of Abesan 02, Ward E, was elected Deputy Leader, while Hon. Adejoro John Ibijemilusi of Gowon Estate, Ward B, emerged as Majority Leader.
Hon. Ezekiel Odeboju of Abesan 01, Ward D, was elected Chief Whip, while Hon. Taoreed Adejare was sworn in as a member.
The legislative arm subsequently adjourned proceedings until September 4th, 2025.
