Our Story

MOSAN-OKUNOLA LOCAL COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT AREA

Mosan-okunola Local Council Development Area came into existence after sequel to the creation of thirty-seven (37) additional Local Government by an act of the state House of Assembly on October 23, 2003 by the Administration of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Lagos State Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

The local council Development Area created under an act of the state House of Assembly Law No. 15, section 1, 2, 3, schedules 1 and 2 of 2002 which was assented to by the Executive Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on October 6, 2003. Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area was carved out of Alimosho Local Government.

GEOGRAPHICAL SPREAD

It has boundary to the North and South with Ayobo-Ipaja and Agbado / Oke-odo Local Council respectively. The Eastern border is with Egbe- Idimu While it has Alimosho Local Government on the West. The total mass area of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development is put at 35 55 squares with an estimated population of 450,000 at inception.

The area is very rich in culture, prominent amongst which are oro,igunnu and Egungun festivals annually  celebrated. Aside the cultural heritages, majority of the council areas are Christian and Islamic faithful. Yoruba language is widely spoken in the community.

Notable communities in the council area include Mosan, Shagari Estate, Abesan Estate, Okunola, Gowon Estate Odemuyiwa, Akinosun, Gemade Estate, Oke Village, Amosun Village, Abisi Village and Many Others.

The council headquarters is located at no. 1, alhaji sanni lemonu street, Akinogun-shagari estate (water bus stop).

Administration

The March 27, 2004 Saw the Emergence of Chief Abel Olusegun Badejo Till April, 2007 As The 1st Executive Chairman as The Local Government with Alhaji Abiodunmafe As His Vice.

However, after the expiration of his mandate in April 2007, Chief Abel Olusegun Badejo was subsequently appointed Executive Secretary of The Council till July 2008.

Elder Ajibola Ariyibi was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Council from August, 2008 till October, 2008 when an Executive Chairman was elected.

Several other administrators have governed the LCDA until the present Executive chairman came into existence in 2017 and running her second term in office now.

HISTORICAL ANTECEDENT

The Council area has a cosmopolitan setting and it is inhabited predominantly by the Aworis, Egba/Egbados and Ijebu spiced with people from all the geopolitical Zones of the country.
