ADUNNI COMMISSIONS AKINOGUN PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE, RENAMES FACILITY AFTER SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU

Commends Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for her commitment towards women, youth empowerment, healthcare and community development-

The Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, has commissioned the newly refurbished Akinogun Primary Health Centre, now renamed the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Primary Health Centre.

The renaming is in honour of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, in recognition of her contributions to healthcare, women and youth empowerment, and community development.

The commissioning ceremony, held at Akinogun, drew political and community stakeholders, health officials, traditional leaders, market leaders, youth representatives, artisans, faith-based organisations, and management staff of the LCDA.

In her address, Hon. Adunni expressed appreciation to residents of Mosan-Okunola, particularly the Akinogun community, and to all partners who contributed to the refurbishment of the facility. She specially commended HACEY Health Initiative and the Ford Foundation for their support towards improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

According to the Chairman, the decision to rename the facility after the First Lady was borne out of a desire to honour and immortalise her passion for giving back and her impact on the health and social sector.

“This centre is open 24 hours for everyone. Come in and be taken care of,” she said, assuring residents of uninterrupted access to quality care. She also disclosed that an ambulance would be provided for the centre to strengthen emergency response.

Urging residents to take ownership of the facility, she said: “Guard this centre jealously. It is our collective responsibility to sustain this project.”

Earlier, the Executive Director of HACEY, Mrs. Rhoda Robinson, said the event marked the formal commissioning of the former Akinogun PHC after comprehensive refurbishment, adding that HACEY would continue to support sustainable healthcare interventions.

The representative of the Ford Foundation encouraged residents to utilise the facility for regular health checks and emphasised community ownership.

Commending the initiative, the Permanent Secretary, Health District I, Dr. Sola Pitan, lauded Hon. Adunni, HACEY and the Ford Foundation, noting that the restored facility will improve access to essential healthcare for residents of Akinogun and environs, and improve safe childbirth as pregnant women can now access maternal care closer to home instead of travelling to Alimosho, Agbado-Oke-Odo or Orile-Agege.

The highpoint of the event was the official ribbon-cutting, followed by a guided tour led by the Officer-in-Charge, CHO Alaka Yusuf.

Dignitaries present included the First Chairman of Mosan-Okunola LCDA, Pa Abel Olusegun Badejo, traditional and religious leaders, market leaders, Honourable Councilors, Executive Council members, representatives of youth and artisan groups, and members of the Council’s management team.

The commissioning and renaming of the facility further attest to the visionary, people-focused and impactful leadership of Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, whose administration has continued to prioritise the health, welfare and wellbeing of the people of Mosan-Okunola. Since assumption of office, the Chairman has demonstrated uncommon commitment to grassroots development, delivering people-centred projects that directly touch lives and reinforce her resolve to build a healthier, stronger and more prosperous Mosan-Okunola.
